Week 3 of 12 on the Body Transformation Program. Lesson's Learned!

Week 3 of our body transformation program was interesting! The workouts got real this week. The weights were tough. I didn’t make my reps. My nutrition was OK. I found myself craving more this week than last week but all I wanted was just a taste.

My cheat day?

We celebrated (social distancing in my brother-in-laws backyard) my nephew's birthday. Instead of a cake, they got each family a box of donuts (that’s 12 donuts) from Sarah Jane’s Bakery. I was in heaven or thought I was. I LOVE donuts!

I ate one I didn't want anymore. That’s new! I could usually eat 2-3 before I was done.

My biggest takeaways from week three…

  1. Nutrition is still #1

  2. Time and commitment

  3. My “booster shot”

NUTRITION

Food is fuel. I love eating but I have changed my mindset around food. I no longer look at it as a treat but as something to fuel my body because when I don’t look at it as fuel, I have no energy! I was talking with Elizabeth after the park class on Saturday (which you should all try if you haven’t yet) and was telling her about this.

I always tell clients to track their food even if its just a week. It makes us more aware of what we are eating and where we can make changes. Up until these last couple years, I have never really had to worry about what was eating. I worked out enough but my diet was finally starting to catch up with me. I had a little extra around the midsection and butt that I was not too happy about but I was maintaining. I also wasn’t training consistently and have significantly more stress in my life. Just like my clients, I need support too.

This “challenge” has forced me to relook at my nutrition and how I fuel my body and I am learning a lot from it. More than when I did Macrostax. That was great but I felt like I was always just trying to get the carbs I needed and wasn’t making the best choices for that.

These first 4 weeks of A12 have been tough to clean up how I was eating. All the extras I was adding that I didn’t realize. The tough conversations I’ve had with others doing A12 and how important it is to eat to fuel our bodies and that they need to eat significantly more to change their bodies has been tough but is crucial to success in this program.

I had some extra stress this week with personal stuff so I learned that it either triggers me to eat and crave things or not eat at all which causes me to crash later in the day. I am learning about what my body needs and I am excited to go into week four, and then next week start a new carb cycling phase.

Takeaway: Listen to your body! Meal prep. Meal prep. Meal Prep. Eat. Eat. Eat!

Time and Commitment

These workouts last anywhere from 45min-75 minutes plus the running. It has forced me to prioritize my day differently. While there are some days I wish the workouts were shorter, I love that I am taking time for me an to take care of me. But, if I don’t do the running in the morning, I can find myself saying I don’t want to do. I have yet to skip it, but have had to get over myself talk a time or two to get my ass out there for a run. It’s only 20 mins.

Getting back to prioritizing my day… I find that I am more tired at night so it makes me stop working which is a good thing. I use to work much later into the night and have a hard time putting away my computer and turning my brain off. But this program is forcing me to do just that. I am getting into a much better routine.

My Booster Shot

This program is like a “booster shot.” It is not something you can do all year round. It is a pretty strenuous program for 12 weeks then you take a break and continue with a maintenance program. It is something you can do once, maybe twice a year. It is a good “RESET” program. It really is a transformation program. transformation in the form of learning about yourself and your habits and implementing, prioritizing yourself and your health, and taking back control of your life. This program can and will help you regain your health, get off meds, and push RESET!

Here we go into week 4! After this week we will be one month in with only two left. I am feeling and seeing changes in my body already. It’s exciting!

Cheers to another week!
