6 months, perfect attendance = RESULTS!
“ I have more energy and it’s sustainable. I feel strong as hell and I finally have momentum in my life.”
Kaylie joined Studio ME back in December 2019. She had a three year old at home and was finally ready to make a change and start taking care of herself again. Her energy was suffering. She was no longer comfortable in her skin and she had some injuries from broom ball that were preventing her from moving up in weight and intensity of her workouts.
Kaylie is now going on her seven month with us and I am SO damn proud of this girl! Going virtual wasn’t easy for her. Her option to workout was her basement. It’s sloped and dark and we had a learning curve to figure things out but it didn’t stop her!
She showed up and stayed committed even though she dreaded her workout spot. That is not easy to do!
My initial goal for my second bootcamp (that began mid-March) was to start focusing on the nutrition aspect of my fitness journey. When quarantine hit, I had to press pause on that to practice self-care without self-judgment. That meant keeping my house stocked with barbecue chips. I kept up with classes throughout bootcamp #2 and felt like it was sometimes the only thing keeping me regulated. Even though I HATED working out in my dank-ass basement, I loved how cared for I felt and how easy it was to get a workout in before anyone else in the house was awake. I gained some weight (who didn't!?), but felt strong and remained focused on my journey.
At the start of my third bootcamp session, I decided to reset my nutrition goal. I met with Megan and talked about my intake and macros. Because I eat a vegetarian diet, I decided to start a protein supplement to fuel my body a bit differently. I had never considered it before, but focusing on my macros has made a huge difference for me with weight loss and just feeling stronger and able to workout 5-6 times a week.
This summer, I hit 6 months of perfect attendance at bootcamp and started picking up 1-2 extra classes a week. I have hiked, biked, canoed with my family, and replaced my commute with a walk to and from daycare (on the OTHER SIDE of Norwegian Hill) twice a day. I have tons of energy, which is normal for me, but just feels more sustainable now.
I'm strong as hell and it feels SO GOOD to have some momentum in my life when many things feel on hold in the broader world. I've lost 10 pounds in two months and remain focused on fueling my body and indulging enough to keep my Taurus-soul satisfied. I'm working out outside with others whenever I can, and though I look forward to working out in person permanently again, I'm so incredibly grateful to have had the virtual options Megan and team have provided. Even if my cat thinks it's mama/Rufus 5:45am special basement time.
Kaylie has not deprived herself of anything. She still drinks beer and eats her snacks but she is much more aware, makes sure to get her workout in, and the results are more energy to keep up with her three year old, desire to be more active, better mood, and strong as hell!
Kaylie is crushing it with just a few changes she has transformed her life.
