How bad do you want it?
Just because you a really want something doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.
I have this conversation a lot with potential and current fitness coaching clients. In fact, a version is on our intake form. “How committed are you to your goals?”
When we hear “committed” or “fully committed/all in” we know people are serious but need help to take the step.
Wanting something and taking action are two different things.
I can say I want something so bad my bones hurt but if I don’t take action towards getting that something, it’s not going to happen.
Action can be something small. It doesn’t have to be an all in mentality.
Example, conversation:
Client: I want to lost 5lbs.
Me: “Ok, why is that important to you.”
Client: “I will feel better. My clothes will fit better. I just feel more comfortable at that weight.”
and this “why?” getting more details goes on for awhile…ultimately leading to:
Me: “ what behaviors are we committed to making today?” *this is asked after figuring out what Is really driving them…
Client: “ Right now, I can commit to drinking 80oz of water a day.”
Me: “Great, now let’s create a plan to help you do that.”
From here, we start building healthy habits. Water/hydration is just one small behavioral change that if we can make part of our lifestyle can help us improve things from sleep, cravings, energy, and so much more!
After that becomes a habit, we move on to the next.
See, simple right?
