July Members of the Month: Meet Amy and Mary Jo
Meet Amy and Mary Jo!
You may recognize their names from all the MEP challenges that Amy and Mary Jo have conquered! They are the queens of blue and green MEPs. Want to know their secret? Lots of walking., even in the winter!
Amy and Mary Jo have been part of the Studio ME crew for almost 5 years and we love seeing their smiling faces around the studio. We can’t imagine Studio ME without them!
Before joining Studio ME, they told us that ‘we were doing cardio at our respective gyms and worked with a trainer once a week for strength training. The routine wasn’t fun anymore. We felt like we were in rut and needed a change.”
And then they found Studio ME! Like most members, they found Studio ME on the internet…through Groupon! (Don’t get too excited, we don’t do Groupon or ClassPass anymore, sorry!)
According to Mary Jo and Amy, they were originally “drawn in by rowing (Chelsea, can you believe that?) as an alternative for cardio.”
Yes! We love us some rowing. Plus, they were “excited to push [their] comfort levels with the Row STRONG and RowEndurance classes.”
They started with one personal training session and 1-2 additional classes a week. But…
“Then COVID happened. Our fitness motivation bottomed out. We were in a funk and needed another change. We decided to switch to two personal training sessions a week and it was the change we needed to get back into a fitness routine.”
“In the last year and half, we have been trying to focus on fitness and lifestyle goals. The MyZone challenges have been a blast and super effective in getting us more active. Since the April 2022 green challenge, we have been walking over 2 miles every day. After that first challenge it became a new habit to get up and move every morning, even on the super cold and hot days. It has made a huge difference to our mental and physical well-being.”
Like I said, Green MEP queens!
But Mary Jo and Amy don’t rest on their laurels. Instead, they’ve upped their game.
“This year, after an unflattering grayscale 3D image, we upped our commitment and started a 90-day challenge to lose 10 lbs., with a longer-term goal to lose 10 lbs. every 90 days thereafter. Staying focused in small increments at 90 days, the longer-term weight loss goal feels more attainable and not overwhelming. In the first 90 days we focused on meal planning, journaling, and continued being active. We achieved our 10 lbs. goal (and then some) and the 3D scans showed noticeable improvements.”
Amy and Mary Jo are almost finished with their next 90-Days and they’ve told us that the carb struggle is real. But, they told us, “we are determined to win this battle!”
