Not sure what to do for exercise? Free workouts not cutting it? Gaining weight?

Why a fitness coach can help you create a plan, stick with it, and get results. If you’re not sure what to do for exercise as you stay at home, keep reading.

Most people quit a workout shortly after starting it.

Start a plan only to go too hard and fail within two weeks.

Many reasons I hear are:

  • I don’t have time

  • It’s boring on my own

  • I fail every time I start

  • I can’t stick with it

  • I’m not getting results

What you are really saying is:

  • I don’t know what to do

  • I can’t do this on my own and I need help

  • It’s not a priority for me right now

Any of these sound familiar?

If they do, then you are in the right place!

You can help fight the urge to quit with some simple rules you set for yourself and future workout schedules and having the right support system, program and fitness coach to help you stay on track.

Find the Time Before or After Work

If you work full-time and have a family, it's difficult to find the time to work out and keep a regular fitness schedule. People say they aren’t a morning person, but really, that may be your only time to get a workout in.

Set your alarm and get up an hour earlier in the morning. Eliminate the need to want to cheat or stop early by having an accountability buddy, community or fitness coach that is depending on you to show up. Find a group class or a personal training to be with you (virtually right now) to help motivate you and push you harder.

If you're more of a night person, add it to your calendar and it right after work. If you wait too long to get started, exhaustion from the day starts to set in and the couch starts to look oh so comfy.

Workout with friends/Find a community

You must know at least one other person who wants to get fit and lose weight. It could be a friend, coworker, or someone from the gym. Partnering up helps keep you both motivated to stick to a workout schedule. When one person's motivation falters, the other can be that bit of mental momentum to keep going. Working out with others is also more social than working out alone. If you are a social butterfly and thrive in group settings check out a group class.

Avoid Boredom

Boredom occurs when you do the same workout over-and-over without ever switching it up. Change your cardio habits and do something different each day of the week. For instance, take a long walk one day and then go for a bike ride the next day. If you use weights, create a schedule that uses different equipment each day. Keep it interesting, and you reduce your chance of boredom. Not sure what to do for exercise or are tired of googling free workouts, find a group schedule who will plan it all for you. All you need to do is show up!

Pace Yourself and Don't Push Too Hard

When you finally get motivated to work out, it's habitual for people to do too much at once. Doing too much initially leads to injury and burnout. Keep your pace slow, and don't overexert yourself to the point of frustration or injury. Your body will be sore when you start the workout, that’s normal, so don't be surprised if you need to take a day or two to let your muscles relax. Having a fitness coach will help build you a program that will help you start slowly and meet you where you are at so you actually enjoy the workouts instead of not being able to walk the next day.

Don't Expect Results Too Soon

95% of our clients people start a workout program to lose weight, and when they don't see initial, quick results, they get frustrated and want to quit. It can take several months to see a real difference. That’s why you need a coach or accountability buddy to keep you motivated.  Think about how long it took you to put on those extra pounds. You’re not going to lose them overnight. Set your expectations correctly from the beginning. There is no magic pill. It takes expert programming and coaching to help you get results and keep them off. Seek help from an expert as it's not just exercise that will get you your weight loss goals.

Health and fitness is a journey filled with ups and downs and twists and turns. You must be ready for the ride. Be patient and don't cause yourself frustration.

Weight loss is a difficult part of being healthy, but with commitment, the right program, proper nutrition, and a support system, you can see results in your body, your health and your mental wellness.
